Vita SheetPastor Ken Alford grew up in Newport, a small logging town in the northeastern corner of Washington State. His fourth-grade Sunday school teacher at the Dalkena Community Church kept him after class one day because he was uncertain of salvation. Showing him the Romans Road, Mrs. Fisher particularly impressed him with Romans 10:13. Upon graduation from high school, Ken joined the United States Army to serve as a physical therapy technician. While stationed at Madigan Army Medical Center he met his wife, Debbie, at the Puyallup Community Baptist Church. She had trusted Christ in the early '70's during a Neighborhood Bible Time crusade. Debbie and Ken were married in 1980, and now have five children: Kimberly Hudson (8-29-84), David (3-13-87), Kelli (9-12-89), Katie (12-8-92), and Kristie (12-8-99). Ken is a 1984 Highest Honors graduate of Cedarville College and a 1989 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Northwest Baptist Seminary. He completed his Doctor of Ministry at the Northwest Graduate School of the Ministry in April of 2002. He has served as the Assistant Pastor of the Puyallup Community Baptist Church and the Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Othello, Washington. He has been an active leader in the Baptist Network Northwest. He currently enjoys pastoring Family Baptist Fellowship of Graham, which started April 4, 1999. It was this church, under Dr. Alford’s leadership, that started the Prairie Baptist Fellowship in Yelm, WA in February 2000. Ken serves as a chaplain in the United States Army Reserves. In this capacity he deployed to Kuwait in 2004 and continues an active ministry among the military families at Ft. Lewis, WA. Dr. Alford filled-in as the High School Principal of Tacoma Baptist High School from February 2005 to July 2006 and continues to coach the high school wrestling team.
